Prayer

Put simply, prayer is being in relationship with God - about communicating with Him. In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus teaches us a model of how to pray. It starts with relationship, we get to call God ‘Father’ or ‘Dad’, as He wants to care for us as a good father. The rest of the Lord’s Prayer teaches us that we can talk to God and he will provide, forgive, guide and protect us.

Prayer isn’t just about talking to God - it’s also about listening to Him. But we don’t have to use special words or long sentences – God just wants to hear from us – however we are feeling. Prayer enables us to become more the people God created us to be and so draws us to share in God’s creative and compassionate work in the world. We discover the work of the Holy Spirit as we are open to God in prayer.

If you have something you would like others in the church to be praying for, contact the church office and we will add your request to the list. Or, add your prayer into the prayer book that can be found at the back of the church.

If you would like someone to pray with you on a Sunday then please do speak with Helen or whoever is leading our service that week. We also have a prayer chain of members of our congregation who commit to pray in response to requests. For emergency prayer contact Revd Helen Hancock on 01252 574521.
